![]() However, it was difficult to open and I had to check each file. I had the students sent it to me when each row was finished. The first time I tried it, it did not go smoothly. I have six rows of 5 desks, so each row only needs one calculator and the front of each row logs into the Navigator. So I made a document with a direction page and 5 one step equations for each student in the row to do. I wondered if there was a way with the Navigator that it could be done. Well, you always have to correct the papers and such. Or sometimes you can do it on a difficult equation where each person does a step. I would hand each row a sheet of paper with five problems on it. I used to have this old technique of row races where students would compete in rows. I think that will be my goal for November. I am still trying to figure out how to work the TI document player and how I can put that on Moodle. However, it can only be used at a student's home if they have the student software. I also made a TI Publishview Document with this activity. The students seemed to get a lot out of it as well as did some great problem solving and thinking. I randomly chose students to be the presenter as we worked and discussed the problems. Then ,I used the TI-Navigator to take pictures of their screens as the activity unfolded. First, I wirelessly sent the TI-file to all their handhelds and I just received 5 more cradles just recently. We were doing an updated version of Lauren Jensen's TI file called "You Are What You Eat." It is basically about how we can determine the number of calories per gram of fat and demonstrates a linear relationship between the number of fat grams and the amount of calories the hamburger contains.
